A nice effort, Kevin.
You build up the mirror effect nicely, playing one scene off another, sharply contrasting the two worlds that your story takes place.
The worlds of Apokolips and New Genesis are well envisioned and you give us a solid introduction to some of the people that populate them.
Darkseid, Orion and Barda in particular are compelling characters here. I look forward to seeing where you're headed with them.
I liked this on the UDCU, and I liked it here. Good job.

It was a good written story, but I had the feeling you wasted to much time in introducing all the characters. Some were done in a good way (like Darkseid, Kalibak and Granny) others would have worked better if you had less details in the description of their costumes (Orion and Lightray)... It made the story too longpaced IMO... Okay, it was the first issue and you had to introduce all the caracters, but I think it would have worked without every detail of their costumes.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. You're right, I should have changed that, Riz. When I originally wrote it, I had no artist and no way of knowing if the reader knew the Fourth World, so I wanted to ensure they could picture it. But now that I've been lucky enough to get the fantastic talents of Doc Dread, the descriptions don't need to be as long-winded. (Which really, they shouldn't have been anyway, especially for Orion.) So Thanks for pointing that out And Eric, I have to say- Barda is a character I added more out of duty to Kirby than because I had any real liking of her (Whereass I do enjoy most FW characters) but she has really grown on me as I kept writing. She's fun to write, and it's probably the one instance where I've gone from disliking to loving a character simply though writing them.

Well, as Eric said, I too enjoyed this issue on the UDCU and I continue to enjoy it here. I never read too much about the Fourth World concept even though it really interested me. I just could never find the particular stories. So I'm really glad that you're writing this title, Merai. I'm enthusiastically looking forward to your next issue and what you have planned for next.

Thanks, Batmantwinky. And I have to say, if you're looking for the right stories to get into the Fourth World, there's only one choice -DC just re-released all of Kirby's Fourth World stuff in four lovely omnibuses. I cannot recommend them enough!
