Good stuff. I especially liked the parallels to 1984.

Glad you enjoyed it- and yeah, I was trying out a few more metaphoric/atmospheric techniques with parallels and whatnot in this issue, as a bit of an experiment. This is also the perfect oppurtunity for me to point out your beautiful cover! For everyone else's benefit, when I initially gave a rough description of the cover, I expected jorell to maybe toss in one or two parademons and give us a fairly standard showdown scene with stock poses. What I GOT was several parademons and an awesome angled shot with a brilliantly posed Orion which blew away my expectations! UFW's had 4 cover artists, and 4 GREAT covers, but I'm really glad you're sticking around, Jorell- I, and the DC3, are lucky to have you.

Good issue with a nice sense of the New Gods and their interactions with each other and the universe itself. I like the tension rising between the various factions, and the Female Furies were a blast to read. Good stuff.
And the cover was indeed great. I loved the skewed angle, really brought a dynamism and excitement to the cover that captures the motion of events within the story. Great debut from the new guy, and I can't wait to see #5.
Take care Don

You've really got a way with these characters and you seem to know them and their personalities sparkle under your control. I thought this issue was another great example of that.
Barda really continues to develop with every scene she's in, she's becoming a favorite in this series. I like how effective you show her to be in her first scene of the issue, her conflict with the various members is dynamic, but her internal conflict may be even more interesting.
Orion and Lightray continue to make a great team, even when they are outnumbered and overwhelmed. You make the reader believe n the characters and what they're capable of doing, and even in defeat, you give us enough to hope that they'll pull it off in the end.
Highfather and Godfrey's conversation was also sharp and well crafted. There's a lot more going on there I think than the readers might realize at this point, it'll be worth going back again after a few more issue and see what you might have been hinting at.
The cover is particularly striking and really well done. I love the perspective on it and can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
