Hi everyone, I just sent a Banner submission to the Marvel2 site. I thought I would post it here for those who do not visit that site and want to see it. I hope you all like it.

I am currently drawing a submission for an art contest. The objective of the contest is to create a superhero or villain, provide a background, and stats, and also to draw it. They will be judged based on Artwork, creativity of the hero or villain. THe winner of the contest wins a BATMAN STATUETTE!!! Wooot! I'm working on a villain right now. I would like your HONEST opinion as to how it looks so far. Please do not worry about hurting my feelings (because they won't get hurt). I am spending a LOT of time on it currently, so far the pencils that I am about to show you have taken me around 5 hours. This picture represents only a fraction of the whole composition (1/4 of a page). I've zoomed in on it so you can see the details better. I am going to have a lot more stuff for the background as well as to the left of her when it is done. This drawing should take me around 15-20 hours total to finish penciling. Then I will be inking and coloring it. Could you please give me your HONEST opinion as to how this drawing looks so far considering it is going into an international competition? If you see something glaringly wrong with it can you let me know?Comments would be greatly appreciated. Again, you won't hurt my feelings. Here is the part that I've done so far. I still have to draw her boots, and arms and hands (I haven't done them yet, because I need to render some objects around, over and in them). They will come soon.

she's definately too thin IMO The cape looks curious... Is she a Bat-villain? Or some kind of vampire?

She is a villain. Going to be a Diseased Rat/Bat horde summoner.
Her arms are a little too thin, and I will be fattening them up a bit soon and changing one of the positions.

Yes Ramon has a good eye! I am very lucky to be associated with some great artists here in this community. We should really do this kind of critiquing more on our works. Learning from each other would be very valuable. Maybe each art department should have a sticky for unfinished works that we critique if someone posts a drawing there... heh heh. Do you have any ideas for background surrounding my furry friends? Keep in mind I will be adding in bats overhead...

very nice. The rats in the background can't be identified like in the penciled version anymore, but it looks good.

maybe a few clouds or stars would be a good addition. And why does she have green hair and shoes???

All the good villains wear green and purple. Those are the villainous colors, after all. What? Seriously. Back in the Golden Age, purple and green were reserved for villains (by and large). I'm sure Trevor is being completely traditional in this approach. No, stop that! I mean that. Shush, all of you. Take care Don

maybe a few clouds or stars would be a good addition. And why does she have green hair and shoes??? I didn't add any clouds or stars because I wanted a high contrast for the sign so it popped out at you. I thought it would distract or lessen the contrast. Green and Purple? Lissilambe is 100% correct in his guess! I was trying to be traditional so people could identify with her. I chose the green because when I think of disease I think of Green or Yellow as a color (maybe it is because that is the color of the puss coming out of your body? heh heh) Hence you also see yellow (instead of red) eyes on the rats and herself when she is using her power. The green hair is an effect to symbolize that. And hell, since she is a woman of the year 21st century now, she has the right to accessorize! Green boots to match! Purple in my opinion is a great match to green. It is in my opinion a dark and powerful color when used right. It was the color of royalty (power). With the bushes behind her and her hair being green, I thought it would fit the composition best. I was first debating on whether to make her outfit green and her hair purple. But because of the bushes around her, I decided to use purple for the suit so the whole composition didn't look like a big green picture. So really the colors are just an artistic decision based on how I wanted to make people feel when they look at the picture.

the colors make the sign pop out enough. I think a few stars would be good.

Well here is one commissioned drawing done... This request was for a pencils only version, no inks or coloring will be done. It was done on a Blue Line Art Pro Comic Board using 2H and B weighted pencils... The female character is Gamma Girl, and if you are wondering who the dude is in the picture, it is Superboy. I tried not to make him too muscular, but at the same time not pudgy. Hopefully it worked.
