Here is the colored version. Experimented with a new coloring technique, I hope it looks alright.

It looks good, but the shining effect doesn't really work here imo.

Thanks Riz, now if only I could color worth a shit... lol... I keep trying different things, and I am always disappointed with my coloring... I really just need to stop trying to be fancy, and buckle down and ink and cell shade this I think... I noticed I missed Blue Beetle's shooty thingy on his forearm. Gotta add that before I ink it.

I was looking back at some of the first covers I did for DC2, and I can't believe how much my drawing has changed in only a year... I've drawn these guys before (in a cover last year), so I think I was better prepared this time for them.

Great job on two really great characters. I love it.
I hope you're keeping an eye on the entries for Who's Who over at the Art Department, and the thread about Earth-Two Legionnaires needing designs in the same area. Good stuff that I hope would interest you.
Take care Don

Oh crap I didn't see it at all! That started already?!? I will check it out. I just finished inking these two jokers, so I will be done the cover soon. I have one other commission I have to get done this week in addition to this cover, but hopefully I can squeeze in a pic for this event. I think next week or the week after I have to do some drawings for a book that is coming out this year from Hero Games. They are just finalizing the layout of the book. I just got the warning from the Art Director there last week, so if I am going to draw anything for Who's Who, it will have to be soon! Damn I've been crazy busy lately... Sorry I dropped off the radar for the last little while, it is hard to turn down being paid to draw stuff, even though I don't need the money. Hopefully it calms down a little soon, so I can take a breather, the last two months have been crazy!!! It is actually getting a little stressful to draw!

Here is the final art for the Zero Hour cover for DC2... Tried a different coloring technique. Actually this coloring technique didn't take very long, I was surprised...

Here is my latest commission done... I used a cell shading coloring variant on this one. Let me know what you think.

I like the pose and his face, but the colors are too flat and bright. I think it might look better if you added another layer of shadows and put some higlights on the claws... all in all a great picture, though.

I agree. Great pic but the colors are flat. Wolverine's at about the same grayscale level as the sky and the buildings. I think it would work better if you added more contrast, maybe 1) darkening Wolverine up since he's coming at us straight from the sun and would probably be more silhouetted from our point of view and 2) lightening up the sky, or at least changing its color to make it different from the buildings, which probably would not actually reflect such a clear blue. I think you could even go white with the sky and really intensify the brilliance of the sun and then push some more shadows on Wolverine to make the thing really pop.
You might also throw a little more detail like reflections or something onto the buildings, especially the one in the bottom left corner, which looks stiff compared to the Wolverine and the rest of the picture and I think contributes to the flat problem. Or, like I said, you could just blow out the sky and make it so brilliantly white that the buildings sort of fade into it and Wolverine's busting toward us out of that sun-blinding brilliance.
I do love the dynamic angle of the pic and Wolverine's body language and expression. Looks like he's about to pounce directly on our heads.

Yeah, that bottom-most building in particular looks very flat and sticks out because of it. also, the downward momentum of Wolvie's drop is kind of belied by the hair just kind of hanging loose in his face, when I'd imagine such a drop would have it pulled back to some extent.
I do like the facial expression and the ferocity in his leap though.
Take care Don

Here is my latest commission work in progress. Here are the inks. I will post the colors when they are done. It is a Mayan/Incan based superheroine. Costume design was a collaborative effort between him and I.

I think it would look better with some DC hero in the forefront! Who is a space superhero for DC?

Ooooh. Well if anyone here needs a space cover, I got one, just got to add a character to it. By the way Riz, thanks for the help on coloring. Here is one I did over my pencils (didn't even ink it). I already see an improvement.

OK Riz, you created a MONSTER!!! I just colored an old pencil drawing of mine here. Since Susan mentioned it looked like Cinnamon, I decided to color her like Cinnamon. To do the landscape plants, I used a custom scatter brush with a drop shadow. Was easy as pie thanks to the magnificent Riz who showed me some tricks in Photoshop!!!
