What an impactful beginning. In just a few words we're all brought right back to the gut-wrenching end of the last issue, it's a credit the way you're able to make this feel permanent even though many probably know his fate from the DCU.
And you just have to feel for poor Freddy. He's gone through so much, the very idea of him holding a box full of stuff, essentially the lump sum of a brother's life? That all comes through loud and clear here in this issue. The torture just continues for him throughout the issue, things just don't seem like they'll be getting better for him any time soon, do they?
The scene in the 'Stones was well played, Cap comes off perfectly here and it's great to see the way he works with most elements of the Fawcett City police. He's not a strong presence in this issue, but he doesn't have to be because...
...this issue inches us closer to the debut of the hero who is, without a doubt and with no sense of hyperbole or exaggeration, one of the greatest characters ever created. That alone justifies this as a must-read issue and his in-costume debut can't come soon enough.
As always, this was a great read, not necessarily a fun one since it deals with some weighty emotions and continues Freddy along a course that we all know can't end well, but I enjoyed reading it and really can't wait for the next one.
And I'd have to echo the thoughts of Riz about the cover and the facial expressions in particular. It's impressive how much mileage you get out of them, it's somewhat Maguireesque. Cap looks absolutely note-perfect on this one. Very impressive Roy.

Thanks Eric, someone else noticed the Maguireesqueesness of it. I say there's no better compliment when talking about facial expressions. Thanks.

I love Kevin Maquire's work, his facial expressions are without compare, and Roy...you're hard at work on becoming comparable, for sure! Keep it up. Seriously, I just love the way Cap looks in that picture, so wonderfully classic.
Thank for the kind words and let's just say...things are going to get worse for Freddy, if you can believe that. Oh yeah. But there'll be a light at the end of the tunnel, should he survive the tunnel. As for Kit...I'm glad his passing is having the impact it should. And yeah, Riz...his story isn't over, even if his life is.
Take care Don

Wow. That was... intense.
You knew what was going to happen to Kit, but it didn't really lessen the impact. Well handled.
Freddy... oh Freddy... you poor S.O.B.
I'll be honest... I'm a little unsure of hwere Freedy is headed. You would think I would be... but I have some doubts in a way.

THat's one of the best compliments I've ever gotten, Pat. To hear what you said about Freddy is great. One of the toughest job of a writer is trying to make something either obvious, or already done, uncertain and suspenseful for the reader. We know where Freddy and Kit end up in the DCU, and so people can guess what might be in their futures, so it's tough to make sure readers don't take anything for granted. It's wonderful to hear that despite what seems like a well-paved road, there are still a few bumps that keep people guessing.
Thanks a lot.
Take care Don
