I love the tone that we have for Supergirl-- she's so fresh and bright, which is a nice change of pace for me working on Detective (on DC2), Titans and GG XD There's a good mix of getting the year one set-up out of the way, and keeping everything exciting and funny.
And I have to say how much I love this cover. The whole thing is beautiful, but it's the details that really make it-- the color on her sneakers and the choker she's wearing. And I like the positioning of the S symbol over her head, kind of crowing. It's a great piece of artwork to compliment a great series

Good to see things get underway. I like that Kara has established her place in Metropolis and the newer stories can start (Don't get me wrong, I love the origin story, I just want to see some more adventures).
I also like the influences from Superman: TAS (Corben the mercenary, Toyman's expanded role, girl Livewire). I was a fan of the show and i'm glad to see stuff from there go into these stories.
Keep it up!

Good stuff. Nice to see Jonathan and Martha get a place in the Ultimate Super cosmology, even without a Clark for them. Linda and Kara continue to be so much fun together, they really make the series, reading the two of them. Kara becoming a mechanic? Interesting. Dick Malverne? Interesting. Lots of great characters being inserted for future use: Rudy Jones, Corben, Willis...all great future antagonists for our Maid of Might. And Dan and Joe. Ah yes, the power of the bard. To forever tar and feather those we dislike and have wronged us, and I daresay the real-life Dan and Joe have wronged at least some of us older comic book readers. So fie on them, good to see them getting theirs here in comic book land. Question: We are in San Francisco, right? Golden Gate Park and all that? Just checking. As far as I know, Metropolis has yet to make any real appearance in Earth-Five...yet. Keep up the good work. Take care Don

I really enjoy your dialogue. That first scene had some Joss Whedon echoes. (There is no higher compliment from me when it comes to dialogue.) Also, I can tell there's a lot of Diniverse influence, what with Livewire and the smiley-mask Toyman and what not. All in all quite enjoyable. Looking forward to the next issue!

Thanks for the compliments. ;D Yeah, both Weadon and Dini/Timm have been major influences for me over the last ten years or so. And expect to see a lot of little nods to the Diniverse in both of my main titles. James

Supergirl is such a fun and light series, it's great.
I loved the opening scene, really does a great job establishing the tone of the characters as well as how they're going to be interacting with one another. Loved the twist on everyone seeing through Kara's disguise, that was a nice touch.
Another great touch was the way you slipped in and adapted characters like Malverne, Rudy Jones, etc. As others have mentioned, I think is just a really novel way to set yourself up for the future. The real highlight of this, is the way you've adapted the entire Kent family mythos without being able to use Clark to bind it together. That remains a brilliant move.
You also give us some action, blending a number of different sequences, the assault on the park, Corbin's assault on the facility, Calculator organizing it all - the series continues to be very reminiscent of the animated version, but you've put your own touches on it, which is great.
Should also point out that I nearly choked on the "brand new day" line, very nice touch.
There's plenty of hang onto and definitely a lot to bring the reader back. Can't wait to see what you've got in store for us next.
