I have read every issue of this since it has come out and although I rarely comment, I do want to say that this is one heck of a consistently fun, enjoyable read. Sam has these characters down perfectly. Personaly, I would love to see what she could do with some of the other female characters in the DC universe... like say... Wonder Woman. Excellent job on this issue as well as the entire series!

I know I'm late again, but I wanted to comment on this issue. Loved the scenes with Harvey in the police station. And I really like the connection between Harvey and Renee. I loved Rucka's and Brubaker's Gotham Central issue with these two so much that I'm happy to see you use their friendship here, too.
5 stars for this issue.

AWwwwesome! Loved this issue, and I loved your characterisation of Harvey Dent. I'm a big fan of the character, and the way you established him, and his personality-- and his eye!!-- was spot on perfect. The banter between Harley and Ivy was great, Harley just the right amount of irritating and sweet, and Ivy is great as the straight man in their duo. Renee came off as a bit of a hot-head, even with the evidence presented she didn't really think the evidence through, but I can understand why. All-in-all, I cannot wait to read the next issue, and will get to it ASAP!
Four stars, a really promising start!!

After a one issue break dealing with just Batgirl and the OMACs you, bring us right back to the story of Harley Quinn, easily one of the most compelling characters on the whole of DC3, good to see she too has continued her development that was done throughout year one. She, Ivy and Harvey are all very welcome to see once again.
The interplay between Harley and Ivy is note perfect here and goes a long way to show the sort of bond they've developed as they talk. You're able to keep both in character and continue to play off this Odd Couple vibe between them, while continuing to develop each character's individual storyline.
It's great to see Harley happy after everything she'd been through, though of course it's still twinged with that degree of sadness knowing that that even out from under Joker's thumb, she still thinks of him. It was inevitable, and that's what makes her such a tragic figure, but it's done well here and perfectly in keeping with her character and the reader's still going to be rooting for her just as hard.
By that same token, I liked what you did with Ivy too, having herself constantly walking a very fine line between providing the tough love that Harley needs while not coming off like The Joker she'd rescued Harley from is well balanced here. I think it works here given the context and all that's come before. Ivy's no psychologist, and a fair bit unstable herself, so the balancing act is really fascinating to see playing out - this is especially true in those moments when Ivy loses her temper and immediately has to recoil and scale back - in fighting her own nature, it almost seems like she's becoming a better person. One can only hope that sort of development continues.
After dealing with Harley and Ivy, you then bring Harvey into the picture with a very dynamic introduction. We saw a bit of him in Year One, but it's nice to see that he's going to be getting a bigger role to play here.
It's really novel to see his interactions with Jim Gordon and Renee Montoya, and how despite his accident they're still good friends. But you also show just how jarring an effect it must have when a Gotham City Cop and Batgirl, two people who have seen just about everything you could imagine and still recoil a bit at the sight of him - I can imagine that's going to play on Harvey's mind. Which is not to say that they do it on purpose or that they aren't absolutely cordial to him.
Renee in particular is very giving and loving, despite her concerns for Harvey, especially her study of Harvey's disfigurement, the detective in her is coming out and if she finds something wrong, the reader is effectively clued in that there's more than meets the eye (no pun intended) going on.
That's going to be pretty effective in drawing people in, this is a different take on Harvey, we really haven't seen yet the sort of Two Face he's going to become in this series or if Renee's friendly influence will have any impact on his development. But I'm very eager to find out.
The issue takes a pretty dramatic turn after that - both the murder scene and its aftermath are well written and the reader is presented with a very serious mystery - and it only gets more intense once Batgirl starts looking into it. Seeing Renee and Ivy square off was effectively tense, and Harley provided some nice comic relief to keep things from getting too melodramatic.
I can't wait to see who was responsible for the killings if it wasn't Ivy, how Renee's favor is going to wind up playing out and how much more complex this is all going to get next issue. This one was very well done, and very exciting.
