First things first: Go Insiders!!
Second thing: Ultraman better watch out for whomever the next Power Ring is. Just like on the good side of things, the ring slinger can take on the big boy....if he sets his mind to it. Of course, the next Power Ring might decide to join the Insiders...
Now, I already knew that somebody would be on the Insiders. And I'm okay with that; on Anti-Earth, the bad guys win, after all. No, what I'm wondering is if you guys figured out how she got there. What I mean is, if this is really a dark mirror of DC2, then said person might once have been good and then turned bad....
Owlman, it's very simple. Superwoman is a slut! You can have her if you want her, just don't let your heart get attached, and pray Ultraman doesn't find out....
Looking forward to seeing some 3 way clashes between CSA, Insiders, and the Legion!

This was pretty much what i expected from the first issue of CSA. Now, with that line up front, please realize that that's a good thing. This was a very good establishing issue. not as strong as it might have reached, I think it might have been a bit too expository, but overall, it does set the series and the world up pretty well. I'll see how it all plays out in future issues.
The cover is amazing. One of the best pieces of art I've seen, period. Very great. Very great.
Finally, the worst part of this issue is that warning. Good God, seriously, can that warning be written in any more pretentious a manner? I apologize if I sound harsh and/or snarky, but I mean, I think the warning goes a bit overboard. A simple "This will deal with adult subject matter, so it's password protected, please don't read this if you're under age in your area" would suffice. The mental trauma part is...just plain overblown and over the top.
Take care Don

Surely, you realize that was tongue-in-cheek, that I hardly expect anyone to suffer mental or emotional trauma from reading fanfiction...? Either my joke was too subtle, or you need to lighten-up, buddy ! Thanks for reading, and for the feedback!

First things first: Go Insiders!!Funny, I think that was Brian's reaction, too! Good point, Jay. We have not heard the last of the Ring of Volthoom... Oops! Remember how I just said in the previous post that I didn't expect anyone to suffer mental or emotional trauma from reading fanfiction? Well, I take it back. Brian and I have big plans for Terra--- be afraid, Jay! Be very afraid! Too true! Then look no further than next issue--- it's going to get bloody! Thanks for reading and the feedback!

The thing is, I see this kind of "joke" all over the place (yes, I check out many sites that have people using similar warnings ), and it's just not funny anymore. It just seems to me a unnecessarily pretentious poke at a legitimate custom for warning. I can be very light-hearted. Next time, bring the funny, and I'll laugh. Take care Don

It just seems to me a unnecessarily pretentious poke at a legitimate custom for warning. Just because you're jaded by experiences you've had at other sites doesn't mean that you have to get cranky with me...! I frequent two sites (this one and the DC2), so I haven't developed a callus on my sense of humor yet regarding these things. I assure you, no pretension was intended. It was a small joke, not meant for belly laughs. If you read more into it, that burden of interpretation is on you.

Um, now you need to turn your humor-meter on. That was meant to be joking and teasing, that last post. I mean, the tongue sticking out and calling a person "silly"? Didn't you notice that? I'm already moved on. Ready for the next batch of silliness. Come along, catch up now Take care Don

I'm trying very hard to not take offense, but you aren't making it easy...!

Hey guys, I think you should just drop it, alright? You're both highly intelligent people (two of the most intelligent people I've MET during my time as a fan-fic writer!), so you should both realize the inanity of the argument. Best to just stop and shake hands now before it gets out of hand.
Now, I really need to read CSA#1!

I'm not arguing anything. I'm just making jokes now, largely over how insane this is all getting. I'm being facetious. If david's taking offense, I apologize. There's nothing here meant to be offensive. He's the one who said I need to take the humor of what he wrote, okay that's fine.
Now he needs to take the humor of what I wrote. I even put up emoticon tags to show my jocularity. That's all.
Take care Don

good issue. I liked the family-Luthor-scene the most. The Ultraman/PowerRing scene was too much imo. Okay, that's an adult-story, but I think it would have worked without all the sex details...

good issue. I liked the family-Luthor-scene the most. My favorite scene, too, Riz! Though the CSA have top-billing, this title will very much be the story of the Family Luthor, as well (not to mention the Insiders, if Brian has his way ;D). In defense of the sex scene: I needed to do some quick character-building, and that scene says a lot about all four participants--- including how warped some of them are! Plus, there will be some long term consequences from that event, which will plague the CSA in the very near future...! Thanks for reading, Riz, and for the feedback!

Great, great stuff. I've been looking forward to this title for quite some time and it didn't disappoint at all. I love seeing heroes translated into different versions of themselves, which is exactly what the CSA is. I'm looking forward to seeing the Insiders and, moreso, the Legion of Justice. Excellent work!

And I agree with you: the most fun part of this title is creating the analogues for DC characters ;D! I think you're really going to enjoy the Insiders...

Thanks to everyone who has responded to this. Giving credit where credit is due, about 98% of this issue was David's, and I think it was an explosive start that has set the framework on what to expect... which is nothing more than "expect anything!" Sorry you didn't care for the one scene, Riz, but now I'm glad I didn't take it one step further as I was originally wanted to do. David is right, though, and we are blessed to have Riz doing our awesome covers! The Luthor family is, indeed, going to play as large a role as the CSA themselves. That is, until the Insiders take over the multiverse and control everything and everyone. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! ;D

This issue is intersting but close to the CSA we know in the mainstream DCU. Like some others posted its close to what I expected. While the Anti-Earth isn't quite a mirror world of the DC2 its close enough. In the deuce the villians far outnumber the heroes. Or at least should. So does that mean most of the villians in 2 are good guys here? If thats the case they should be able to overwhelm the CSA by sheer numbers alone. Some of them can hold their own with Ultraman.

I think I might disagree with you on your assessment of Ultraman's power, a2uton... I'm not sure if anyone could hold their own for long with a Kryptonian unleashed and unfettered by conscience.
But, of course, the Insiders are gonna test that!
Thanks for reading!

That was a fun ride.
I really, REALLY enjoyed this. Nice job. The cover was flat out AMAZING. Just abut the best thing I've seen so far on both DC2 and DC3.
The flow of the story was really well handled. I didn't think anything was over the top or needless. It's going to be very interesting to see how the Crime Syndicate holds itself together.
I'm looking forward to some background on the various characters we've been introduced to. It's quite a list. There's miles and miles or stories right there alone!
Looking very forward to more. Five stars!

Wow! It's fantastic! It's so cool. Wow, that was a really good tale man, I cannot wait to for the next chapter!
I've always been fond of the CSA but I love the way you write them. It would be so awesome to have a CSA Vertigo title like this with you at the helm. EXCELLENT!! KUDOS!

Thanks for the kind words, Chris and Pat! And to answer the question posed by UDC: I'm not sure! Both Brian and I are excited about this title, and will definately return to it, but as is well known, the DC3 has no regular posting deadlines---which is a good thing considering our busy schedules, but it makes it difficult to announce when new issues will post . But rest assured, CSA will return!

Wow, pretty awesome stuff here. I really can only echo the praises that everyone has already bestowed. Great characters and great action, even if it wasn't much in this issue, it was still vivid and seemed perfectly in place. As was the sex scene, in my opinion. These aren't the squeeky clean (or even the slightly grittier) heroes that we've all read so much about in the DCU, but their unrepressed, uninhibited versions of the Anti-Earth.
You guys definitely captured my interest in this issue and I'll certainly be back to find out more about the unique counterparts to some well-known characters (particularly the Legion of Justice).
And finally, as has been said before but I wanted to say it as well - that cover was absolutely gorgeous. Worth 5 stars just in and of itself.
